Behind the Scenes Updates & Valentine's Day Goodies

Greetings everyone!

I hope everyone had a great time during the holidays
and that 2011 is off to a great start :)

While I was on vacation I did a lot of work "behind the scenes" around here and you're going to notice a lot of changes with Batty's Bath over the next little while. I took time to take a good look at everything to see where improvements needed to be made and what needed to be updated, overhauled, or made over! .... including my own hair!!! lol! Beautiful blue for Batty ;)

Ok, enough about my hair and on to more exciting news ;)

One the first things you might already have noticed is that the logo has been spruced up! You can see large image of the revised logo here. Also, check out the sidebar of the blog! All my most popular blog posts are linked there! If you're ever looking for more information about a bath & body topic, check there first! You never know what I might have wrote about! Oh, and if you have a topic you'd like to see featured, please let me know! I'm planning my blog posts out early this year so any help on content ideas is great appreciated! :)

The second thing you may have noticed is our new tag line.. or "slogan": Nurturing products based on old world charm with a green conscience. I feel strongly that this new slogan sums up what Batty's Bath is based on and what I stand for - from everything to making products from scratch with the highest quality local ingredients, to ensuring that every single step we take is as environmentally friendly and socially responsible as possible. Below you will see the extension of our new tag line:

Besides the graphic changes (the blog has had a makeover and so has battysbath.com - watch for the release of the new battysbath.com soon!), we've had some changes in our products as well! The most notable is the scrubs & body polishes! They have had a major makeover! So what's the difference in formulas? Just about everything!!! I'm no longer making whipped soap for the scrubs and body polishes (this was what all those wonderful exfoliates where added to). Instead, I've created a cream based body polish that is completely free of sulfates! It's 95% natural (the only synthetic ingredient is the fragrance oil) and many of the ingredients are certified organic! You still use this product in the shower and it still exfoliates just as well as before (the same exfoliating ingredients are used), but the major difference is that this product is even milder than before (rejoice all of you who have sensitive skin!!). Even those with the most fussy skin should be able to enjoy these new scrubs and body polishes without any problems (as usual, do a skin check first!). Additionally, since this product isn't a soap anymore, you'll want to pick out another skin loving product to use as a body wash / body soap (don't worry - I've got lots of options in the shop as well as new soapy things up my sleeves!).

Speaking of new soapy things... I've released my valentine's day goodies! These items are available for a limited time and I don't have many in stock! If you find something you or your valentine will like, snag it before someone else does :)

Oh, and those new scrubs & body polishes I mentioned? Well, I released a special valentine's day body polish called cinnamon heart!

Another notable change is that we've outgrown Gmail for our mailing list! We have had to switch to mailchimp to handle our list! Trust me, it's not that big of a list, but it's nice to feel like the biz is "outgrowing" things before it's 1st birthday ;) If you are already signed up for the mailing list you don't need to do anything - I'll transfer your email address to the new system. If you aren't on the list and would like to be, sign up on the side bar of the blog.

Stay tuned for a lot more news over the next little while!
2011 is going to be an extremely exciting year!!! :)

The First Studio Update of 2011

Happy New Year!

2011 is off to a busy start around here - already back to working long hours, sleeping less, and feeling the thrill of prepping to release new products! It's an exciting time and we're closing in on a full year of being in business! Feb 15th is my biz's birthday! What exciting two days it will be in Feb.. first Valentine's Day, then a Birthday! Wooohooo!! :)

Don't get me wrong - January is going to be a super exciting month too with LOTS of product releases including limited edition Valentine's Day goodies! I don't want to give away too many of the surprises I have in up my sleeve but you've probably already noticed that the blog got a makeover! BattysBath.com got a makeover too but I haven't released it yet! The makeover will go live soon and I hope you'll love all the new exciting things that BattysBath.com will have to offer!

Studio Update

Studio Update, originally uploaded by She's Batty.

A pic of me working earlier. I've been so busy that the studio has been my second home for the past few months.

I have to apologize for the lack of updates on the blog! I haven't had time to cook up some interesting content because I've been so busy! I thought I should update everyone as I predict that things wont slow down for me until January.

Many of you know that I have Ankylosing Spondylitis and Fibromyalgia. I mention this because as I get busier, my flare ups become more frequent and intense. Right now I'm on a loop of recovering, restocking, doing a show (read: provoking a flare up), and starting all over again - recovering, restocking, show.

As you can imagine that the recovery step takes more time every time the loop cycles. Right now I have an average of 3-4 shows/home parties per week plus restocking in between and managing my online shop. As the recovery process takes longer, the less stock I have at each show, and the more stressed out I become - After all, I want to make sure everyone has all the pampering goodies they are looking for!

Things are certainly a whirlwind right now and I'm so thankful that my little business is doing so well! I'm also thankful that things should slow down and get back to normal in the new year. Being super busy with orders is amazing, but not when my health suffers because of it. I've already figured out a few things to do differently in the new year to make things more balanced. I have to look after my health first and foremost otherwise not only will I burn out, but nobody will get to enjoy my batty creations!

In the new year, I'll reduce the amount of shows I do by half - yup, you read that right, I said half! I feel that since local supporters can order from my online shop (with free delivery), book a home party, or shop at Weezi's 6 days a week, this shouldn't impact regular local customers too much (at least this is my hope). I still plan to be at the Covent Garden Market once a month, so no worries there for all the wonderful people that come out every time I'm there! I've decided to reduce the number of shows I book because this decrease will give me more time to fill orders, connect with customers, and take care of my health without taking away from the needs of my business.

Please accept my apology for the lack of updates and interactions. I'm really trying to make sure everyone who wants Batty's Bath goodies for the holidays has them - thankfully, due to all your support - that's a tall order to fill :) I'm sure since your bathrooms are smelling great, your skin is smooth, and your hair is looking great you don't mind the lack of interesting blog content ;) hehe.

Thanks again for all your support everyone! The blog will get back to "normal" as I have time, and if there's anything you'd like to see here (content and subject matter wise), don't hesitate to late me know. The blog survey is still a a great way to have your voice heard!

Happy Holidays everyone!
Be well :)

Can You Guess What I'm Up To Next?

I'm currently working on several new product lines. If you've been following my Twitter account or Facebook Fan Page you may have noticed a post or two about a few of the things that are "in the works". I'm really excited about all the projects I'm working on and can't wait to release them in my Etsy shop over the next few months.

Since I've shared some secrets with my twitter followers and my facebook fans, I can't leave my blog followers out! I'll give you guys a hint that I haven't shared with anyone else about what I'm working on. Your hint.. which is a pretty obvious one I might add, is the pictures. ;)

The top picture is Sassy and Noel. The bottom picture is Princess (and Drew's arms lol). These are my beloved fur babies :) You can read about each of their stories at my flickr account.

Online Opening Date Set

I've got exciting news! I've set the date for the online opening of my Etsy shop for Batty's Bath!

The shop will officially open the week of February 14 - 20th, my reading week at university. This will give me lots of time (since I don't have classes) to add lots of products to my shop and process all the orders (fingers crossed) that will come in after the opening.

Sign up to be notified of the opening at the Batty's Bath Etsy shop and then stay tuned because I'll be adding a whole selection of products right after the official opening. I'll also be giving free products away to fans of the Batty's Bath Facebook fan page so make sure you're a fan for your chance at free goodies!

While you wait I'll leave you with a sneak peek of things to come with this picture. Can you guess what scent this soap is? ;)
