My Week So Far: It's a Batty Life

I was super excited when this clock arrive this week! I may not fit in with the rest of the halloween decor around here but the pink does match the halloween lights we have in the living room! I also had some funky thread arrive! A few new t-shirts, 2 sweaters, and a great dress! I was hoping to have pictures to show you BUT I encountered some problems with the wireless remote I ordered for my camera! It arrived well and good but it didn't have the right cord for my camera! I hunted down and ordered the correct cord and am hoping it arrives soon! It's so frustrating to have a fun new gadget for my camera ant not be able to use it!

I've been having a bad health week. My AS is flaring up (my hips have been pinching which is the first symptom before they start to give out. When it gets really bad, I can't walk). I've been trying to get a lot of work done but have been slowed down by not getting much sleep (the pain is keeping me up), but being too out of it to get much done (hello pain killers)! Near the end of this week my hips gradually started to feel better although not 100%. I needed to dye my roots so I figured fixing up my locks would put me in a better mood. As you can see from the above picture on the left, my roots were getting LONG! The top picture on the right was after I put bleach in. The bottom picture is after 2 hours of bleaching! I wanted to be able to show you what my hair looked like after the color was done but as I write this post, I still have the color doing it's thing with a shower cap on top haha. It's been in for almost 24 hours now. I always keep it in for at least that long - that way it doesn't wash or fade out - it lasts until it's time to do my roots. Oh, and just bleached my roots and then twisted all my hair up into a big bun on the top of my head. That's how the rest of my hair got mostly bleached out :) So wondering what color(s) I'm dying my hair this time? Well all I'll show you for now is what it looks like right now:

  • I have a few home party openings available! As I write this post I have 1 opening in April, 2 in May, and 2 in June. If you'd like more info about home parties or would like to book one, just shoot me an email: jamiesabot@gmail.com

    The Best Things About Spring

With the signs of spring starting to bloom, I couldn't help but compile a list of my favorite things about spring!

Color coming back to our landscapes!

    The birds come back!

    Baby animals :)

Being able to finally open the windows! Ah, airing out the house and smelling the fresh sweet air!

    Flowers blooming

Green grass - the sight & the smell!

The sun stays out longer! No more darkness by 6pm!

We don't have to bundle up in a thousand layers before going outside! I can't wait to start wearing my flip flops again!

Getting Green for Saint Patrick's Day!

How are you going to show your green side this Thursday? Will you be a natural green beauty or will you be taking a funkier approach? Either way, as long as you're happy, well, and spending St. Patty's day with loved ones, you're sure to out shine any shimmering shamrock that comes your way! As I write this post I have a bit of green in my hair but I might have to touch it up before Thursday :) I'll have to check if I have any green dye kicking around here.

Photo Credits: 1. 02-green eyes, 2. i feel like tarzan.

Not only is it a great time to celebrate the color green, it's also a great time to celebrate spring! Green gives me a calming, back-to-nature feel that is a welcome change from the grays, dull blues, and whites from the winter. Not that I don't like those colors! I'm just ready for a change - I'm sure I'm not the only one either ;)

Lastly, if you're looking for something crafty to do before Thursday, why not make this guy? I'm sure he'll bring the luck of the Irish to your celebrations and a few smiles too :) You can get him here.

Getting Ready for Spring: Craft Ideas

With the recent dumping of snow here in London, Ontario it's hard to believe that spring truly is just around the corner! Although I love the hot chocolate and fresh peppermint scents that come with the winter, I'm ready for the sweet smells and warm winds of spring!

Later in the week I'll share some of what Batty's Bath will have to offer for the spring season, but right now I want to share some great crafty ideas from Martha Stewart! That's right, Martha Stewart! haha. While searching around the web (especially flickr), I found all kinds of spring inspirations some of which you'll find below and in these two posts: Spring Inspiration & Spring Inspiration Board. I love when seasons change and we start to embrace new colors, scents, and styles! I hope you'll find some inspiration from these projects and will get just as much joy as I do from embracing changing seasons!

3 Ways Pamper Your Partner B&B Style!

Whether you've already made plans for Valentine's Day or not, pampering your partner doesn't have to be restricted to just one day! Why not say "I love you" and surprise them with some quality pampering year round? Today I'll share 3 ways to pampering your partner the bath & body way!

    1. Treat their senses with sensual scent!
It's been proven that certain aromas can arouse desire so why not give your loved one a sensual new scent to enhance your romance? Yes, you'll be using a bit of psychology with this trick! By giving them a sensual scent you will strengthen their existing association of arousal and desire with YOU ;) oh la la! Now that's the kind of classical conditioning that can really heat things up! Pick a scent combo that fits your partner's personality and that stimulates your own sense of attraction. Suggestions for him include: musks, mints, cedars, or basil blends. Suggestions for her include: soft, feminine aromas such as crisp apples or sweet scents like buttercream icing and cotton candy.

    2. Prepare a soothing soak!
Surprise your special someone with a soothing soak! This gets an especially good response after a they've had a long stressful day! To create a simple romantic escape, all it takes is a bathtub, wonderfully warm water, a candle or two, and a skin loving bath bomb or fluffy bubble bath! If you're partners skin could use some TLC (think dry skin), use an olive oil bath bomb. If you're partners joints, muscles, and mood needs some TLC, use a bath tea. If you just want to set the mood and play on your partners favorite scent, go for some bubble bath!

    3. Make Magic with a Massage
Treat your loved on to the gift of therapeutic touch. There's a style that suits everyone, whether it's a Swedish massage for two at the spa, or a DIY back or foot rub at home. If you go for the DIY version, you and your partner will set the scene for some great bonding time - both emotionally and physically. Don't worry if you're not a master masseuse! All you need to do is listen to your partner about what they want! Maybe it's just a foot rub, or making circles with your thumbs on their sore, stress filled shoulders. Whatever the cause, add in some solid lotion to help smooth things along AND treat their skin!

Love is in the Air at Batty's Bath!

Many of you know that Halloween is my all time favorite holiday, but did you also know that valentine's day is a close second? I bet you didn't see that coming! It's true! And I don't love valentine's day because the "commercial powers that be" tell you to you should actually treat your significant other like you love them.. and I don't love that many singles can easily feel like they are left out of the most romantic day of the year... no no no... those are all reasons to ditch valentine's day!

Instead, I love valentine's day because you can easily make an ordinary day, into a special day with nothing more than some eskimo kisses! Yes, it's the simple things in life that make life worth living and valentine's day is a perfect time to embrace this ideal. I also have to admit that I love some very superficial things about valentine's day! The reds, the pinks, the hearts, the glitter... all things girlie are totally acceptable and it's perfectly acceptable to go totally over the top with ribbons, glitter, and bows! It's also one of the only days of the year that almost every agrees that pink and red can go together. For the record, I think the idea that red and pink clash is a horrible myth spread by party poopers! lol!

It may seem a bit early to be talking about Valentine's Day but the online world moves fast - particularly online shopping - and people start shopping and searching for holiday goodies early to ensure anything they find can be shipped, made, or printed before February 14th. Because of this, I spent a good part of my Christmas holidays preparing my Valentine's Day line! All my lovey dovey creations have been released in the Etsy shop, but you can check out everything in the line below!

Pick up a bottle of wine and you've got yourself a romantic date night of massages and "bubbles" - wine bubbles that is!

Enjoy the spicy romantic smell of hot cinnamon hearts in a pretty pink body polish! This body treat is a great way to get your skin perfectly polished for Valentine's Day! Who could resist smooth, touchable skin that has been beautifully buffed by natural sugars? Nobody here at Batty's Bath can!
