The Secret Place

Saturday, October 23, I stopped at an unmarked location with a small parking area...I think around the Grapevine Canyon area. Folks were complaining about the fog and clouds and rain...but I found this stretch of the Grand Canyon to be the most spiritually beautiful thing I'd ever seen in my life.


How can they complain about the sun not being out, I thought. And then I realized, that's so human. We complain about the sun not being out, about our life not being anything but rosy and smooth.


Yet it's often through the dim fog of life's challenges that the sun's rays pierce through, exposing the most exquisite views of life we could have ever hoped for.


I couldn't believe what I was seeing. As the fog rolled by and the clouds shifted, the light began streaming in, dappling the distant landscape with graceful beams of light that you could trace from the heavens. God was surely having a good day in the art studio!


I was beginning to feel that I must have discovered a distant land...a secret place of the Most High. A place were the divine essence of us must hang out and transmit beauty, grace and light.


It seemed so other-worldly, unearthly. If you could picture the Kingdom of Heave, to me, this seemed to be it!


I began to wonder how much of my own life I had dismissed as foggy, dismal and gray.


Doesn't this rock seem to be a spiritual entity keeping guard at the gates? A Buddha or an angel, or even an Indian Shaman spirit....an intermediary between the human and the divine?


How can anyone be wanting for a more spectacular day? The irradiance of this place was moving me beyond words...into a place of pure feeling and energy.


A place where hopes and dreams are reborn.



A place that touches the depths of the soul.


A place that chases out all that is or was haunting you.


The clouds make the light appear to be thickening and thinning. But really it's just our perception. The light is constant. The sun is constant. The good is constant.

I didn't ever want to leave this sacred secret place. And maybe, that's the real secret...that we don't. We carry it with us in our hearts...whether we are shining or cloudy.

Mega Block Motorcycle on Down the Line

Lines. Lines and Lines and lines. With the front face looking like a Lego, or a mega-blok. It’s the “2015 Honda CB 750″ by Igor Chak. The engine is powered by a four-cylinder liquid hydrogen engine. POW! A six-speed dual-clutch transmission with electronic lurch and traction control. Electronic tuning by the onboard computer. I’ve decided to call it “Frank”. Hello David, Frank, aka CB750, is here to take you over the canyon top.

This 2015 Honda CB 750 is a predecessor to the 1970s-80s CB (pictured below.) It’s basically exactly the same, as you can see, except it has some computers on it.

Computers! Controlling the tuning. Is that madness? What else we got here… frame and body is a unibody contstruction combining carbon fiber, aluminum, and titanium. Seat cowling is part of the frame, allowing it to carry heavy boys and gals: up to 300lbs.

Front and rear electro-magnetic suspension adjusted, you guessed it; electronically. Sensors show readouts updating every 1/10 a second and can adjust everything on-the-fly. ABS, airbag, and steering damper. Rims designed to be sleek and aerodynamic. Radar technology to “sense an upcoming head-on collision and will automatically slow the bike.” – most of these features can be manually disabled to suit the driver.

Now, the on board computer, which can be controlled through a 5” OLED multi-touch display positioned right on the fuel tank. This is the brains of the bike. There are 3 menus: GPS, Drive modes, diagnostics mode.
GPS mode is like your standard GPS that will give you directions and etc, but it will be connected to the internet through Wi-Fi and 3G. This will enable you to find information on the go and implement it to your rout.
Drive mode: economy, race and standard. All can be electronically tuned.
Diagnostic mode: lap times, gas consumption, top speed and etc.

BMW Motorcycle Super Green, Super Dangerous, Super Bike

So you’d like to have a tiny motorcycle. So you’d like to have a fast motorcycle. So you’d like to have a safe motorcycle. I am sorry you cannot have all three! What you’ve got here is a very fast, very dangerous vehicle. It’s called the Halbo, and it’s got a BMW stamp on it. It’s tiny and it’s got a front wheel motor combined with a sphere form rear wheel.

The target user for this vehicle is a “vibrant eco-minded young individual.” Speed on! It’s half the size of the “regular high end motorcycle,” and it’s full name is Halb Organismus.

Wild enough?

Also it’s electric powered. The front wheel is stationary, while the back… tail… turns left to right. It’s like flying an X-Wing! Or… like a motorboat! Or… anything with a stationary front end!

 

 

New Motorcycle Concept Mini Cooper small edition

Think hand-held pocket bikes! Mini Cooper small edition! Smart Car ant size! All of these are just basically giants compared to the hot insect-style transport. It is called the Scarab. It’s got multiple driving modes: fast to slow, perfect park mode, sensors, Lidar, radar, transponders, GPS, guns, knives, sharp sticks!

WHOA before we go any further: I got carried away there. No guns or knives allowed. But If you ask nicely, you can probably bring your sharp sticks.

A designer by the name of David Miguel Moreira Gonçalves presents the Scarab:

The aim of this project was to develop guidelines and a holistic solution for a new system of urban transport, composed of vehicle and infrastructure, in a sustainable way and adaptable to various urban environments.

And the specs for the potential vehicle:

-The vehicle is composed of interchangeable modules that can be customized.
-Powerpack module composed of a permanent battery plus 3 options for the main energy pack (battery, biofuel ICE or a fuel cell).
-4 wheel drive through electric brushless in-wheel motors with directdrive.
-Wheels with regenerative braking through EW Brakes.
-Drive by wire and tactile HUD embedded in the Lexan canopy.
-Structural elements in Carbon-Aramid composite.
-Embedded sensors, Lidar, radar, transponders, GPS. These serve to exchange information with the system, with other drivers and to have precise location data.
-Renting of the vehicle or modules that allows for a private/public/mixed utilization and transport access for people with less financial resources.
-Doesn’t need new infrastructures.
-Is backward compatible with current transport systems and uses current day technologies.

Of course this calls to mind the film “Minority Report,” as most conceptual vehicles and weapons do. But beyond that, this doesn’t seem too far away from reality. In many ways superior to the motorcycle: size for stability, cover from the elements, storage space, and since it would be a “brand new amazing thing,” a million billion of them would be produced, so they’d be pretty much free, right?
