Caution: Views are MUCH GRANDER than they appear
Somewhere over the rainbow...
...skies couldn't be any more grand!
First glimpses of the Grand Canyon, Friday, October 22, 2010.
The depth and the majesty of this place are AWE-SOME!
I couldn't fathom its grandeur or even scrape the surface with my camera's humble limited view.
How small must be our own views of heaven and earth...
and how small our own possibilities when we forget to dream from God's vantage point!
How much grander the view from the heavens...the eye of the Divine.
Speechless prayer and reverence
Stillness
Mother Earth
"In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." --Romans 8: 37-39
A favorite books says that rivers represent a channel of thought (MB Eddy); maybe that's why we are so attracted to rivers in art. We wonder, where has it been and where is it going? What is this river's story and who has it carried on its back?
The last reflected light in the darkness, rivers push on with dogged determination, stopping at nothing, forging its own path through thick and thin, until it rejoins its Mother-Source in the ocean of being. Maybe this is why we love rivers. In many ways the river symbolizes our life, as we push on through all that is thrown at us, until we finally arrive Home.
The Grand Canyon is an amazing testament to the power of water carving its way through the earth. How much more is our divinity carving and modeling us, helping us find our way in life, until we finally find our real Selfhood.
"When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet." --Psalms 8
I leave quietly, knowing that I'll never have seen enough of this great beauty that is Life. But I am so grateful for the glimpse!
